Remote work accommodations via Citrix Workspace

These instructions will help you configure your personal computer to use for remote work.

You must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Have the approval to work remotely
  • Submit a Service Request to have IT enable access to your workstation

Note: This is for on-campus employees who do not have a UWS provided laptop with VPN access.

Installing Citrix Workspace

  1. Go to on Chrome or Edge (Firefox has issues blocking the download)
  2. Click Detect Receiver if prompted, otherwise, check I agree with the Citrix license agreement and click Download
  3. Once the download has finished, launch CitrixWorkspaceApp.exe
  4. Click Yes on the User Account Control screen to continue launching the installer
    1. Follow the quick install steps (do not make changes to default settings):
      1. Click Start
      2. Check I accept the license agreement and click Next
      3. Do Not check Enable single sign-on and click Install
      4. On the final installation screen, check Do not show this window automatically at sign-in

Logging in to Citrix Workspace to access your workstation

  1. Go to
  2. Log in with your UWS Username (not email address) and Password (same as what you use for your work computer)
  3. Click on your workstation in the web portal
  4. On the pop-up that says This site is trying to open Citrix Workspace Launcher click Open
  5. Once the Desktop loads, check Do not ask me again for this site and click Permit use
  6. You will be able to access files on your work computer and any network resources and application

If you are using Teams Audio or Video calling or Zoom meetings on your Citrix session (not your local PC) you will also need to download and install HDX RealTime Media Engine 2.9.100 for Microsoft Skype® for Business (or the latest version).

If you have issues using Citrix Workspace, please submit a ticket and we will work to resolve your request.
